HEADLINES: 2024
APRIL 7, 2024: I came across this bit of news five or six days after I posted new stuff on the site for April, but, I thought I should bring this to your attention regardless. Early last month, I saw a feature on my local TV news that the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, one of the oldest gambling meccas on the Strip had closed for business and would soon be demolished to make way for a new domed baseball stadium for the former Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball. Now, for any longtime Pink Lady fans, this is a highly noteworthy item because the Tropicana was where Mie and Kei performed when they came to the States in, ironically enough, April of 1978. What’s also worth mentioning was that “America! America! America!” was the first PL concert album (er, cassette, bought the vinyl version in an online auction decades later) I had purchased while in Japan, so it was cool to listen to the Ladies in action live, including several songs they sang in English which was especially cool! So, here’s a salute to the Tropicana where Mie and Kei trod all those many years ago!
